Mechanics lien

Can a company (firestone) put a mechanics lien on my vehicle because I stopped payment on the credit card?

they did not do the work that they were paid for.  They were supposed to install camber plate washers from rough country. All they needed to do was grind out 3/16 of an inch in the camber slots so the truck alignment could be done. They put on the camber plates but did not grind the slats there for the alignment is not possible and wanted to charge me another $500 for parts and labor.    They charged me Over $300 to put on the camber washers and a Un complete alignment

Go to small claims court, take all paper work, you will usually win, in Pennsylvania it was under 50 bucks to sue them, they will lose usually or back off, take it somewhere else,,,, I NEVER recommend big box franchise shops they work on commission and have a huge turnover in "mechanics". (Inhave been told ) disclaimer lol. Also try credit card company dispute there faulty work. That may be easiest way.

Dealerships are the same way.

Yes, technically it can be done. Instead of a stop payment, you should dispute the charges with your credit card company.

billybob is right. As part of the dispute process, you're best to provide evidence to support your claim that the work was never done. (For example, photos and/or an independent mechanics written attestation, notarized, if you can get that done). You have to demonstrate, IMHO, that your claim is a fact.

@Jackofall is right. The big box franchise stores like that have "mechanics". I would dispute it with the credit card company and if needed hire a lawyer. It's a small amount of money and not really worth their time to argue over, so they'll probably drop it.

Legally, yes it's a real thing, and they are allowed to file it, just like you are allowed to challenge it. I'm not a lawyer, so I can't advise you how that's done.

As for your particular situation, I won't comment since I don't know all sides of the story.
