Hi everyone, I have a 2011 Subaru Tribeca with 110k miles on it.
I'm hearing a metal to metal sound coming from the front-end. I was pretty sure it was the sway bar bushings because they where completely torn.
I have changed it but the metal to metal sound continues. I've tried to bounce the car while parked but I can't reproduce the sound.
I hear this noise only with the car in motion, when running over bumps or braking.
I have changed the sway bar end links too, but the noise is still there.
What could it be? Help.
Thanks.
you need to inspect all the moving suspension parts. Anywhere where there's a joint or bushing.
That could be balljoints, control arms, shock mounts etc. etc.
Use a crow bar to manipulate them. This is best done on a lift.
You can also spray lube on them one-by-one to help narrow it down.
Can it be wd40 as lub?
sure

I’d check the rubber strut mounts, as @mmj suggested (using spray lube, to isolate the source).
Exhaust heat shields will make metallic noises too
