Hi Scotty, I have a 2014 F150 3.5 ecoboost. While driving on the highway I floored it to pass a vehicle and it misfired badly with a loud bang accompanied by the engine light turning on and the truck started shaking. I pulled over and it quickly stabilized. I only have 30k on the OEM spark plugs and had installed new ignition coils in May. What else could cause such a bad misfire?
Whats the millage? Any codes?
164k miles and it was the cylinder 6 misfiring. P0306
Did it misfire while you tried to hard accelerate or did it misfire after you passed the other vehicle and were slowing back down? If it happened while flooring it then it sounds like a fuel delivery issue, which is not uncommon for an 8 year old GDI system.
It happened while I was trying to pass the vehicle (hard accelerate). If it is a fuel delivery issue, it's there anything I can do to fix it?
