They can be okay knock around cards if you get them cheap enough and the engines and transmission still work correctly

Mitsubishi would be the lowest of all of the Japanese brands. Their automatic and CVT transmissions are biodegradable and their engines have weak piston rings so they are really quick to start burning oil. Obviously Toyota and Honda are good chances are you will pay a lot more for them. Subaru is pretty good but again you will probably pay more. If you want a cheap Japanese car I would look at Mazda or Suzuki. While I am not a fan of Nissan I would still buy a Nissan over a Mitsubishi.

If you get them good rpice they should be OK for 100k miles should be relatively good when it comes to reliability just remember the QUALITY is a whole different story. If you find a new Mirage on the lot like 4 5 grand below MSRP I would snatch it up who knows.

I've had good luck with the Mitsubishi Eclipse's personally, both the 4-Cylinder and the GT V6 models. The 4G63 GT's are stout little pocket rockets and can be bought dirt cheap mostly because Mitsubishi doesn't have a large market share in the US. The Lancer Evo was popular, but other than that Mitsubishi never really took off as a brand here. Shame though because I always had fun driving their cars.

Yes if regularly serviced.  I love my 2019 Mirage CVT. No issues.
