2014 Scion xB, 4cyl 80k, was taken to firestone shop for a motor oil change, checked the oil level twice the next day and few days later on a cold engine and car parked on a level, looks over filled to me, even tried shifting to all gears and back and checked the next day on cold engine about the same level looks over filled to me? Checked with dealership to see how many quarters fits was told 4.5 qts and that’s what it said on a receipt from firestone 4.5 quarts added.
Please see pictures the motor oil looks over ?
also popped the plastic open from the car battery on a cold battery and noticed the acid/water level is way below the plastic hardly visible in some holes
to check and to add the distilled water to the battery do you do it on a warm or cold battery?
and how much to fill to the plastic level that’s inside the battery or a little above the plastic?

Thank you
receipt from firestone 4.5 quarts added.
just because they punched a number in the computer, it doesn't meat that's what they put in the engine.
Unfortunately this is what happens when you go to chain shops with low standards and apathetic employees.
acid/water level is way below the plastic
batteries are not supposed to be full to the brim! The solution should only cover the lead plates, which it looks like they are. Most modern batteries are maintenance-free.
Just by looking at the dipstick would you be able approximately tell me how many quarts was the oil overfilled?
Contacted the shop that did the oil change some Asian guy at front desk personal told me that if it’s under six quarts of oil than don’t worry about it, but if it’s over six quarts than it’s a problem, don’t really trust what he said, want to get your opinion, also gave me an attitude and told me some people get OCD about when it’s a little overfilled, but did offer me to give a refund and told me not to come back to their shop again, or a free oil change next time.
Please see pictures the motor oil looks over ?
Yeah, almost definitely overfilled.
4.5 qts and that’s what it said on a receipt
That’s not an indication as to how many they actually put in, that’s how much they billed you for.
They billed you the amount needed to use in a 2.4L AZ-series engine (to the high mark, it should NOT be above it)
Sometimes shops overfill the engine on oil burners on purpose so that they won’t run out of it (and these XB tend to burn oil) so maybe that’s the reasoning? It’s still not good though.
was taken to firestone shop
Big mistake. Those chain shops tend to be sloppy and rarely know what they're doing. You're lucky they didn't drain the transmission and put 5 quarts of additional oil into the engine. (I've seen it happen!) It would not surprise at all that they put in too much oil. If you're not able to do your own oil changes look for a good local mechanic.
but did offer me to give a refund and told me not to come back to their shop again
Great, choose this option. Provided they haven’t ruined anything.
Just by looking at the dipstick would you be able approximately tell me how many quarts was the oil overfilled?
No. Why? Just drain it bit by bit until it reads full.
Take the refund and never go to Firestoned , or any other chain shop, again.
