My friend who live in my native country Dominican Republic. He was a full size pick up truck with a diesel engine he asked me if a ford F-150 Diesel chevy Silverado Diesel GMC Diesel or Nissan titan Diesel would be he looking a model year no later than 2021 he could buy a Toyota Hulix but he tows a 5 thousand pound boat twice a month for about 127 miles distance both ways he also needs it for daily driving as he works in a mine and needs to drive around 10 offroad before reaching his work site and the hilux might not be an option for that type of towing but it would be for daily driving to and from work according to him. What would be good choice for him or he would most likely go gas engine pick up truck

If you want some gas I'd recommend the Toyota tundra

If you want diesel I would go with the f 250 7.3 power stoke diesel

Very interesting question.  It is both very easy and very difficult.

It is easy in the sense that any mid or full-size truck with a 6 or 8 cylinder and 4wd can tow 5000 pounds and do light off roading.  A 6-cylinder Hilux should do just fine (assuming the boat is not too wide for the mirrors to see around.

But it gets a lot more difficult when you are talking about a small market like the Caribbean, or Alaska, or a mining town in Nevada or something.  You will need to take into account parts and service in a way you wouldn't in a large North American metro area.

So with that in mind, a Hilux would really seem like a good option. A Tundra, probably less so.  And a Titan almost certainly not.  But it really depends on local factors.  If there is a good Ford dealer that has a good service department, that might make your decision.

Now specifically regarding full-size diesel trucks, there are 2 different categories: light duty (1/2-ton) and heavy duty (3/4-ton).  I absolutely would not get a light duty diesel in the DR.  The Ford F150 diesel and Ram 1500 diesel are OK, but not great, and might not be in production very much longer.  The GM (Silverado and Sierra) light duty diesel with the 3-liter Duramax is a great truck (it's what I drive personally), but getting parts might be very hard.  Even getting the specified motor oil is tough; I have to special order it here in Dallas, so I can't imagine in DR.

So that leaves you with the heavy duty trucks.  I would not get the Nissan HD (it comes with a really good Cummins engine, but the rest of the truck is marginal, and they are so rare that I can guarantee parts would be a problem).  Of the other 3 (Ford, Ram, GM) are all fine; just get whatever has the best local dealer and that you can get the best price.

Good luck!

My friend told that the boat is about 7 1/2 feet wide about 14 feet long and weight about 6800 pounds.

Then a mid size truck like the Hilux is probably out. Will need full size or heavy duty

He actually found a full-size pick up a 2019 ford F-150 Diesel V6. He said it’s perfect for towing traveling and he averaging on daily driving about 27 miles per gallon plus he got a 37.25 tank on it
