My Honda doesn’t start sometimes

Hey Scotty I have a 2000 Honda Accord automatic with 176,000 miles. When I turn the key all the dash lights and radio work but I only hear a clicking sound and my car doesn’t start. It does it often but not always sometimes I get in my car and for days it all works perfect and then I get stranded for an hour and then it starts. The battery is brand new and the starter was just tested and also works.

@leoleo
I have a 99 Accord. I had a similar problem, TWICE, and they were different causes.

The first time was a relay, under the steering wheel.

The second time was something on the fuel pump assembly (not the fuel pump itself). I can't remember exactly what.

The shop I took it to wouldn't just change out the broken part, and instead just changed out the whole fuel pump assembly. Makes sense though, because labor to change out the broken part would be insane.

Thank you so much I’ll have to check that out

Honda had a recall on the ignition switch for that year I think. Get a mechanic to check out the system and see what is found. If that is not the issue you could also look into to see if the immobilizer is faulty. I doubt that to be the case though.
