Its a 99 eclipse with the DOHC 2.0 l.
Came home from work went to leave again and the car would not start it would crank but wouldn't actually start.
What I have done
1.checked fuses-good
2. Tried to check for obd 2 codes- it could not communicate with my car
3.disconnected battery in hopes of resetting the ecu
What I have found.....
1. With key in the on position The check engine light does not illuminate Prior to attempting to start car
2. When the car is cranking The rpm Gauge does not move
3. After watching the video about how to fix your EC you yourself I unplugged it to look for corrosion and instead found a strange Brown liquid inside the connector see below picture. This is in the top connector the lower connector has no fluid and looks good. Tried to research what mysterious fluid could be and or why it's there and found nothing!

Was the car flooded? Water somehow got there.
That’s a bad sign to find water & corrosion in the ECU connector.. @yaser has called out your culprit..
Is the substance pasty? It could just be dielectric grease (normal).
In case it's not, try blowing it out with compressed air or liberally dousing it with electrical contact cleaner.
