Had timing belt kit with water pump, tensioner pulley and hydraulic tensioner on a 2013 honda odyssey 3.5, 5 months ago. By pepboys #6469 in Tempe, AZ. The tensioner started making noise. I Took it to them to have it checked out. They told me they could not hear the noise. The said it was the starter. Starter is on the other side of the engine. Had serpintine belt Tensioner pulley replaced. Didn't help. Still made noise. So I took it too one of there other stores too have it worked on. They where told by there supervisor to send it back to the store #6469 that didn't fix it right the first time. Now I had been without the van for a week. I and my wife drive for rideshare fulltime. The pepboys #6469 calls and said they went in and replaced the kit again. So I picked up the van and it was making the same noise again but louder. So I took it to a honda shop to have it checked out. The honda shop said that the tensioner pulley and hydraulic tensioner was bad and was the original parts, not aftermarket parts that pepboys uses. So I lost a week's worth of wages for both me and my wife about 1,500 $ and 820.00 from the honda shop to fix it correctly. Now pepboys is not willing to reimburse me and my wife for the wages or the repairs to fix it. I have tried for two weeks to talk to the district manager Eddy Sandoval over AZ.
Can you help me and my wife get the money reimbursed before we get kick out of our residence this month.
Thank you.
Love the channel, hope you enjoy Tennessee..
Sorry you went through all of this. Unfortunately there are a lot of low quality and counterfeit timing belt kits on the market now. You must use 100% OE parts straight from the dealership or buy the aisin kit from a reputable seller like rockauto. These are interference engines, you don't want the timing to skip or the belt to snap.
Contact the manager and corporate with the honda invoice. That is proof that indeed pepboy's junk caused your problem. You should be reimbursed.
Never EVER buy any parts from auto parts stores, buy OEM parts.
Name of pepboys and location can be helpful to the internet so that they are aware.
I agree with the above comment. You should talk to their store manager, and if does not help, call a higher level management.

Friends don't let friends get their cars repaired or maintained at Pep Boys. I'm not being flip, I'm serious as a heart attack. The horror stories coming out of Pep Boys' service bays are legion. Best to tind a good, reliable independent mechanic for your future service needs.
