Do you think automotive engines will follow this lawn mower engine trend?
The EXi engines series from Briggs & Stratton has improved air cleaner seals, cooler engine temperatures, and high-precision manufacturing, and never needs an oil change.
Q: What do you get when you add a quart of clean oil to 4 quarts of dirty oil?
A: FIVE QUARTS OF DIRTY OIL.
That's not even getting into depletion of anti-wear and anti-corrosion additives.
If you want to do that with a $200 lawn mower that's all well and good. I wouldn't want to take the chance with my car. (I also note in their video B&S brags about using "automotive grade polymer materials" in their new engines - in other words cheap plastic crap. I'll be keeping my old mower as well as my old cars.)
engines that don't need oil changes have existed for long time. They're called 2-stroke.
Lol. Maybe they should add a 10 yr warranty just to prove it.
Won't happen in our lifetime.
