He was indicating a preference for 0W20 oil through most of the video but we don't know what he actually has used in his own car unless he chimes in and lets us know.

@g-t yes, I know. Well read here, and dozens of YouTube videos and websites. Also familiar with the additives in 0w-8 and the detailed work Toyota has done on 0-8. Generally, the oil viscosity required by the manufacturer is the oil you should use. Ultra-modern cars have hydraulically controlled variable valve timing, and using the wrong viscosity oil can affect performance of the VVT system. It could also trip your check engine light.
It's a 2026 Toyota, which means it's brand new. The powertrain warranty is good for 5 years or 60,000 miles. That's a lot of time for too thin (or thick) of an oil to start wearing things out prematurely. If you use the required oil viscosity and the engine winds up having internal issues due to the oil's thin nature, as long as it's still covered by the powertrain warranty, Toyota will replace the engine on their dime.
Toyota isn't like GM; GM designed the 6.2L V8 and that engine was atrociously designed. People have still reported engine problems, even with GM's "fix" of using heavier oil.

Toyota recommends 0w8 oil. Why on earth would you use anything else? Pretty sure Toyota didn't build their reputation for long term reliability by recommending inferior oils.
