New Car Tips

Hello! Just bought a brand new 2020 Subaru Impreza. I was just wondering what are the best things to do to protect my investment and get as many years out of it as possible. I live in PA and I'm already scheduled to get the car undercoated in a few days. Anything else I should do? I will also be religiously sticking to the manufacturer maintenance schedule.

Congratulations! Well, it's a new car, for the next few years, there really isn't much to worry about apart from basic maintenance like changing the oil regularly. If it's an automatic transmission, make sure to change it every 50k miles, don't listen to anyone who says that you don't need that, they just want your transmission to go out to sell you another one. But it's a brand new car, you shouldn't have any problems fpr the next few years

The manual says nothing about that so good to know! Thank you!

What engine do you have? Some of them have head gasket issues. Otherwise they have good AWD system.

@g-t
It is the 2 liter flat four engine

Those are less vulnerable than boxers. I don't advise to strain it anyway.

Congrats on the new smell.  At least nothing to worry about for three years.

What trim level did you get?  2 or 4 door?

@jimz
Base model, the extra bells and whistles just weren't worth the extra cost to me. And it's the 4 door season
