New vehicle break in oil change

Hello, I've heard various opinions on break in oil change intervals for new cars. I have a 2022 Toyota Corolla Hatchback SE 2.0L 4CYL 6MT. I have 970 miles on it so far and was considering changing the oil at 1000 miles. Is it a waste of time/money? Should I wait until 5000 miles? Thanks! Happy Fathers Day!

You should follow the owner's manual.

Don't touch the oil at that mileage. Change it at 5k miles.

Your owner's manual will give you the information regarding whether a break in period is required or not.

Watch from 5:09. This guy is a Toyota master technician and he suggests doing the first oil change at 1000 miles. It's not going to cost you much if you'll be doing it yourself; just the filter and oil cost so maybe $30ish. I've always done this and it doesn't cost much compared to taking care of your car.
