CVT Drain and Fill plus both filters
Hi Scotty -Drained and filled (plus filters) on my 2014 Nissan Altima for the first time. Bought it new and now has 117,000 mi. I put in the same amount of fluid as removed. 5 quarts. After driving 20minutes and waiting 15 -20 minutes, (engine not running) the amount on the dipstick shows at the top of the criss-cross section. Today, I drove it for 20 minutes but this time I checked as soon as I got out of the car and it is well below the criss-cross and is about 1/2 inch on the dipstick. Question #1 Can I run this way until I get another quart of fluid since it is reading low, and #2 or should I just put non-Nissan fluid in to fill the gap? e.g. AMsoil etc. (I have a Nissan quart coming from Amazon but won't be here until 6th or 9th of January. Any help you can offer will definitely be appreciated.
Love your videos and the way you show exactly what is going on. Keep up the fantastic work. Jim
Be sure you're checking it under the conditions specified by the manufacturers. With conventional automatic transmissions that is typically at operating temperature with the engine idling and trans in Park or Neutral. However it is probable that the procedure for checking your CVT fluid level is different.
Stay with OEM fluid if more is needed.
