No Power When a Step on Gas

Hello Scotty, Good day.

I have a Toyota Avensis 2001 Model. My car is performing poorly. When i step on the gas pedal, it won't rev-up, it simply stutters, misfires and sometimes shutdown. The RPM gauge at idel is below 5. High on fuel consumption, sometimes I see a little bit of white smoke. The engine idles rough

The Engine is second hand and it has been rebuilt.

I have changed the MAS sensor, CKP sensor, fuel pump, spark plugs and coils, CAMSHAFT sensor, fuel injectors.

upon all these, i still can't get a headway. Now I'm thinking of replacing the CAT.

please advise me on what to do

thanks

You should have a local mechanic check it for clogged catalytic converter. That could be one possibility. White smoke is usually indicative of a blown head gasket and much more serious issues. A decent mechanic can run a quick test and see if your converter is clogged and if your head gasket is blown. You can order a head gasket leak tester online for about 20-25 bucks.

Hello Thumpy, thanks for your suggestions.
I can roll out blown head gasket because the engine was rebuilt for same issues.
The issue seems to be challenging to the local mechanics i have hired so far.
There seems to be no way forward
I'm having a hard time

The Engine is Toyota VVT-i 3zz-FE
The ECU (Module) is labelled 1zz-FE
could this be any cause for concerned???

If the ECU has never been changed then it isn’t a concern.

You can drill a few small holes in the pipe before the catalytic converter see if it runs any better. You can use JB Weld and some sheet metal screws to plug the holes afterwards. But if it does run better then you have a clogged exhaust.

Is the check engine light on?
