hello,
i have a 2006 Lexus es330 85k miles. i had the timing belt replaced at 80k miles. a few weeks back, i noticed a loud high pitch screech noise coming from inside the timing belt cover. i took it back to the shop that did the job, they said it was something about a bearing or ring or seal that was put on backwards, making it hit the plastic cover. they said they inspected everything and found no damage or wear and put the part back on correctly. a few days later, i hear the same noise again, but not as loud as before. is driving the car like that dangerous and will it damage the engine eventually? what should i do?
If the noise is from timing belt, you better check it sooner than later. Realize that you have an interference engine and if the belt snaps, you should say goodbye to the engine. Find another mechanic to check it.
