Hello Scotty,
Big fan. I live in Houston, Tx. I have a 09 Corolla. My car started making a noise at certain speeds. Thus I took it to a mechanic and he says that the ball bearings are leaking oil and needs to be changed along with the axles both front and back. He gave me an estimate of 947$ including labor charges.
Am I getting ripped off??
Any suggestions.?
Thanking you,

I'm not a Toyota expert, but it depends on which bearings you're talking about.
hub bearings shouldn't have oil. They are greased. CV axles are greased. Only the inner axle bearing (inside your transmission) is oiled but those shouldn't be going out.
So I assume he's talking about just hub bearings and axles. The price is on the high side, but not unexpected. It depends on what grade of parts he's quoting. OEM would cost more. I'm sure if you ask, he can break down the quote for you.
If you're hard up on cash, you could do just the bearings and leave the axles (assuming the axles aren't making noise but the bearings are.)
