Hello so I am interested in purchasing an obd2 scanner, is innova 5160rs a good purchase? If not what do you recommend?

Yes, it is, but the 5610 is essentially the same tool (as the RS) and also less expensive. In general, which scan tool you get depends on what you need it for. Not everyone needs a pricey scan tool like the Innova 5610 or 5610RS. See below:
