Hi.

I  have a hyundai santa fe 2007 automatic and my speedometer is not working so mileage is frozen at 82105, I  wanted to know if I can use a obd 2 scanner to read the mileage for my car till I fix it and also to check the mileage on other cars when I shop around. So which scanner do you recommend.

Sincerely

If you have a high level scan tool, yes it should be able to read the actual mileage if the speedometer still works

Hi Scotty.

Thanks for the response. I have a 2007 hyundai santa fe 3.3L the speedometer is not working, and the mileage is stuck at 82105. Can you recommend a high level obd2 scanner to use so I can keep track of the mileage and to check on the mileage of other cars that I would like to purchase.

There is an extensive OBD tool topic in our FAQ

Use a Garmin GPS or similar as a speedometer and odometer.  It's usually more acurate than the one in your dash, and a good used one costs way less than a OBDII scanner and displays the numbers bigger.  If you don't have a GPS, use your smartphone or borrow one from a friend.

Hi jdavidm

Thanks for the response. I do use my smartphone for the speed and mileage since the one on my dashboard is not working. I just wanted to find out what decent brand of scan tool to buy that would give me the mileage when I check on my car as well as other cars.
