Hi Scotty. Just bought a 2018 Lexus ES-350 with 28,000 miles on it. Certified Preowned by Lexus. Lexus recommends 10,000 mile oil changes. What is your recommendation. Thanks

Every 5k miles or so

If that’s what the manufacturer says for OCI I would stick with that. If you want to change it earlier I don’t think that’s going to hurt anything. The synthetic oil that’s hitting the shelves now a days is some insanely good stuff.

it's what studies seem to suggest. (State of California, 2013, "Evaluation of High Efficiency Oil Filters in the State Fleet")

oil changed every 10,000 to 20,000 miles.
"I usually waited for the oil to turn black before changing it."

Mountainmanjoe great articles in my opinion today’s full synthetic oils can 100% go 10k before an oil change. Still can’t believe a serpentine belt went 500k before change mi on the million mi van.

It's interesting stuff. But I wouldn't recommend that people start experimenting on cars they value. There are some engines out there which are VERY sensitive to oil sludge. (looking at you Ford). I wouldn't want anyone to lose an engine.

Every 5k at the latest, even if using full synthetic.

Oil is cheap. Engines aren't.
