I have a 2019 Honda Civic Coupe with 3000 miles. I have heard that if I don't hit the 6K mileage total in 12 months I should change my engine oil. I live in Arizona..not much moisture in the air here! I am wondering if, because I only drive about 2000 miles in 12 months, do I need to change my oil annually?
I would say you're probably fine at just 2,000 miles per year doing it once per year as long as you use a good quality synthetic oil. But I would NOT go more than a year between oil changes or about 6,000 miles.
I personally would just change it for piece of mind. I don't know about Arizona but in my area, lots of good oils are going on sale. Oil will go bad eventually even if its just sitting in your oil pan and not being "used". Since you're only driving 2k miles a year and your at 3 thousand miles now, you will need another year and a half to get to 6 thousand miles. So I would just change it.
