Oil Change Recommendation for parking outdoors but low mileage driving

Topic starter

I've got a 2005 Lexus RX 330 and had synthetic oil put in at 136 K miles 7 months ago (September). I'm at 139.5 K now but it has been a while since my last oil change. I'd appreciate a recommendation as to whether I should wait until I reach 141 K or change the oil now. I don't drive very much, but I live in Colorado (temperature extremes) and park my car outside so I'm not sure if that could cause oil contamination or oil degradation. Also, does it matter whether I change the oil with synthetic or use a conventional/synthetic blend to save some money? Toyota engines from that era are reliable and I want to keep my engine going strong to 300 K miles or more.

Thanks for answering my question and thanks Scotty for helping people like me out with cars! I've learned so much from watching your videos and have saved lots of money on car repairs and not buying terrible cars (Chrysler cars) because of the advice from this blog and your channel on YouTube.

Where that kind of driving just change the oil once a year

You are best off with full synthetic, at most every 5k or 1 year. Synthetic blend means nothing, they probably put a drop of synthetic into a gallon of conventional.
