Oil gauge reading

Topic starter

I have a 2002 3 seater Chevrolet Trailblazer 251350 miles that last year the oil pressure gauge started to drop to zero when I would come to a stop. Revving the engine would bring it up but once stopped it goes back to zero. However, this only happens during the summer months and is nonexisting during the winter months. I have replaced the oil presure senor gauge but during the summer months the problem returns. One other thing when the problem occurs its almost like another switch is causing it to turn off and on. Hope you can help me out Bill

Yes, first thing I had done and did not fix problem .

You said you replaced the gauge but did you replace the oil pressure sensor switch on the engine block?

never repaced the gage did replace the oil pressure sensor.

It's unlikely a gauge to go out. More likely the pressure sensor is going bad,

good point, thats why I replaced the oil sensor on the block and problem still there.

When oil pressure problems are suspected it's always best to hook up a mechanical gauge to see what's really going on.

Now that's a good point and I can only hope the mechanic did that, but why does this only happen during the summer months?

The engine possibly running hotter in the summer is about the only thing that comes to mind.
