Hyundai Sonata heavy Oil Leak

I have a Hyundai Sonata 2007 4 cylinder. I’ve owned it since 11,000 miles and a year old. Performed regular maintenance on it in advance of required need dates.

Recently I noticed a pretty big oil leak on the ground and noted it was down a quart. I went to Autozone and bought a quart of Lucas Oil Stop Leak and added it.

I look all over the top and sides of the engine compartment and did not see any wet areas.

i couldn’t look underneath as I’m 75 and can’t climb beneath the car. What might the problem be and what do you suggest. I only drive about 2000 miles a year and I’ve babied this car.

What is the current mileage?

At the rate OP said it should be around 30-35k miles.

Have a diagnostician put the thing on a lift. It could be a leaky oil pan gasket, for example. Or, perhaps at the last oil change, the drain plug was not tightened enough, or had been stripped. The oil filter could have worked itself loose.

Or, it could be the oil pump. The main thing is not to grab a remedy until you have a confirmable diagnosis about where an oil leak is coming from. Then, once you know, that's when it's best to act.

Besides, there are problems that come from underuse of a vehicle, because the oil never has much of a chance to reach operating temperature, boil away condensation, and circulate additives to condition seals. So, 2000 miles a year is an additional risk factor, not a benefit.
