Old Prius Worth Buying?

Possibly on the lookout for my next (used) car. There's a 2011 Prius with 230K miles (although the engine and transmission have 75k miles, confirmed). It's for sale for $6,000 from a private party. Hybrid battery seems to still be in solid condition. Is this price a good deal?

Have you had a hybrid expert test the battery to confirm its condition?

Check comparables in your area. You can also get a rough idea of what they're going for at Kelley Blue Book.

Seeing as how it's 14 years old going on 15, unless the battery tests as nearly new you'd need to factor in the potential cost of a replacement battery. It's also possible other expensive repairs would be needed down the road, like $5000+ to replace a failed generator.

For what it's worth Scotty has said on multiple occasions to stay away from old hybrids.

if the battery is original , it's about due for replacement
