Hi Everyone,
I am searching for a used truck, mid-sized, with 4WD. I came across a 2017 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X, 85000km on it, 4.0L 6Cyl engine, automatic. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about this truck? (Reliability, main issues, etc.). I am new to trucks so any help would be appreciated!
Thanks so much!
Michael
That's not a lot of mileage and the Frontiers are A LOT better made than the Titans.
I'd have a mechanic check it out. If you are looking to drive it to 100k - 150k miles and ditch it, it could be alright.
But as @yaser said, don't pay too much. If they are asking Tacoma money, go Tacoma every time.
I would consider it only if it was RWD and I could get it much cheaper than a Tacoma.
The Nissan Frontiers up to 2019 MY are one of the few Nissan products that are fairly decent and hold up, and one I can recommend as an alternative to the Toyota Tacoma. The V6 engine and transmission combo has been used for many years in that truck and is true and tried. You save money in the process, too, over a Tacoma but don’t expect it to last as long as one. They should get you to 150-200,000 miles with regular maintenance. That particular one you mention is 85,000 km or ~53,000 miles.
Also, the Pro-4X package gets you Bilstein offroad shocks, an electronic locking rear differential, 4-wheel active brake limited slip, skid plates, and all-terrain tires.
