so i was having trouble with this code on my 2012 dodge caliber sxt. so what have done to it today was pulled out the relay block and looked at the relay that was corroded and pulled out the one that replaced it i pulled out the female pins because i was going to reclean them and put them back but instead i just moved the pins to an empty spot packed all the plugs with dialectic grease and put everything back together and now i have the fan on the driver side that actually comes on now along with the other fan! the temp seems to run hotter then before fans turn on at 217* and shuts off at 201* but before im pretty sure that the temp was around 189* and 210* with only one fan on.
but i let the car run for a bit to see the temp flucuation and it is constantly between 201-217.
do you have any thoughts i would be glad to hear them. as always i really appreciate your patience and advise.
Well it sounds like they're coming on too late that's the sensor or maybe the relay is just bad that they didn't set up correctly I'd also take the dielectric grease off of sometimes that can cause loss of power in certain situations as it does not conduct an electricity and it's too much on it can stop devices from working right
when you say thats the sensor do you mean the ect sensor??
how would i take out some of the dialectic grease? so im guessing from that that i do not need alot of grease on there right??
thanks scotty i appreciate the advice
Yes, he means the ECT sensor. The computer uses that sensor's input to control the fans. Try changing that first before going through the trouble of cleaning out the dielectric grease
