i have a 2015 Passat TDI w/DSG transmission. The car comes out of warranty in about 4 months it has 82000 miles as I can’t find any record of the DSG being serviced and is recommended every 40,000. My question is can I have it serviced at my German car mechanic for much less $$$ or should I have VW do it for about $350.00. Will it void remaining warranty if something goes wrong.

It will void warranty if you don’t service it at the dealer. However, you are free to service it wherever you wish, post your warranty period.

I thought so, thank you

I would stay away from a DSG transmission if you haven't (or previous owner hasn't) serviced it every 40,000 miles. You WILL start having issues if you don't do regular fluid changes on it.

@inthrustwetrust
I would’ve but had no idea it wasn’t automatic when I bought it so here I am

That is a myth. 3rd party service will not void warranty. If it did, then the service would have to be included in the contract. VW would also have to prove that lack of maintenance caused the vehicle to fail. But you should keep up on regular maintenance.

You learn something new everyday..!
In my neck of the woods, if a vehicle is still under manufacturer warranty/extended warranty, it has to be serviced at the dealer for the warranty to remain intact. I guess things work differently in different regions. Thanks for correcting me.

@inthrustwetrust
I don't think so. Read the fine print.
