PCV valve and Hyundai Santa FE / KIA Sorento 2017-2019 replace regularly or what?
Does the PCV valve need to be replaced, will it cost thousands of dollars if the PCV valve fails and blows out the gaskets?
I have about 130,000km on a 4cylinder 2019 kia sorento w/ the GDI engine, and do for new spark plugs at 150,000 so I figure I'd get the mechanic to check the PCV and/or maybe I should just get them to replace it with a PCV Valve? I think replacing it make's more sense then "checking" it.
It's only $13 for the part, but how often do they fail? I have read that some people change it every 80,000 km... I did not notice it in my KIA manual. It looks like a pretty easy job (looking at youtube videos) for changing the PCV valve, maybe I should try to do it myself, but I've never delt with car clamps really.
Well I mean if you really want to be a fanatic you could change it every 4 or 5 years. The only thing that happens is if it fails open. It'll burn a little bit of oil. And it might idle a little funky. For instance, I have Toyotas that I've never changed the valve that are 20 years old
