Hi I recently watched a video by engineering explained and it shows you and a couple other YouTube mechanics building plastic engines. What was that all about? I was also sponsored by shell.
Years ago there was talk of building engines with ceramic materials which would allow it to run at higher temperatures and lose less energy to the cooling system. As far as I know nothing ever came of it.
It was a contest to see which team can build a (plastic) engine the fastest.

I doubt an engine of ANY sort that the large majority of it is made of plastic could last for very long, even if it's stronger than normal plastics are. Sure, they can get it to function for a short time, but there's no way it could last for a long period of time, especially an automobile engine.
