Hello Mr. Killer, My wife and I just got a car off of Craigslist, I know we payed to much for it. $2,600
It is a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix Gt  automatic with the 3.8 V6 3800 ll engine with 107,000 miles.
What are your thoughts on this car.
I am also looking for a Hyper chip for it, all the ones I see plug into the OBD2 plug. Thing is my insurance company uses a device that plugs into the OBD2
plug. Are there ones that have a chip that I can put in lieu of the factory chip.
Thank you
Rick Kurtz

Those are decent cars. The weak point in this cars is the automatic transmission. Make sure you inspect the fluid first and if it is ok, change it. About those performance chips, I don’t recommend it for your car, your car is 23 years old, you don’t want to mess with an old car performance of you plan to keep it.

Don't get the hyper chip.. or any "chips" that are plug and play. At best they do nothing. At worst they ruin economy and timing/fuel/electrical. The engines are perfectly fine. If you take decent care of it it will last you a good while. Mine had 220k before it went out due to head gasket. For me it wasn't worth repair. Others on FB run similar milage on Original parts. So I don't think you got that bad of a deal. If you are looking for performance you should have gotten the supercharged one. Not much you can do now unless you want to triple the amount you want to spend on the car to get the same performance as the stock supercharger 3800. If you really REALLY want a tiny boost, get an actual tune, at least that way you know that you get something out of the car.
