Pontiac Torrent 2007
My cooling fans would not kick on. A love tap with a hammer got one going. I swap the connectors. One goes on for a few seconds, off for a few seconds, on, off etc…. The other doesn’t kick on at all. Just tested the motors straight from the battery with lil gator clamps. One worked great the other fried the ground wire instantly! What do you think the problem is and how can I fix it? Thank you!! Ps your videos rock and kept this baby out the shop and running SOLID!
Obviously the fan motor that fried the ground wire is bad and needs to be replaced. Other than that you need to check fuses, relays, and wiring.
I changed the fuse, relay, and connector. It’s working, but the problem one is spinning slow and the ac one is still kicking on then off a lot. Would you just change the one motor? I think I should just replace the whole unit? Thank you
Given that the car is close to 17 years old it would not be a bad idea to replace them. If one is bad the other is probably not far behind.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. I have it running with the ac on blast. One fans working great. The other doesn’t seem like it’s going to pick up speed, and the temp is a little higher then usually but not rising any higher. I’m didn’t drive anywhere, but the ac would have kicked off by now. Soo swapping out those three parts definitely helped but I think the motor in that one fan is going…
the other fried the ground wire instantly!
it's shorted. replace it
