[Solved] Prius 2006 (Gen 2) - how to remove door handles

Hi Scotty!

I want to vinyl wrap my Gen 2 Prius (Prius 2006 fully loaded) and I have to remove the door handles to successfully wrap the vehicle. I have electronic doors as my Prius is fully loaded with everything, so my fear is breaking something electronic.  I have no clue other than there are a few screws that need to be removed before the panel will come off & something needs to be unplugged. Other than that I do not know the steps.

Geeze, I'm sorry I asked after going to the MMJ link. Mark it down in the "Old Guy thinks it is really dumb" category.

Wrapping your whole car in vinyl. Umm, what happens when a piece of road debris chips it? Get out the "New Vinyl"?

And here I used to think a set of baby moons and a glasspack was "cool"

Have you ever felt vinyl? It's a soft plastic used for tubing etc.) Did you look at the link I posted? There are photos of how they stretch it over the vehicle. It can't chip.
It comes off easily, so when it starts to look shabby, you pull it off and reapply.
You see it a lot on company vehicles, and advertising on transit buses. If you've ever seen commercial vehicles with graphics all over them, it's vinyl.

I guess it's time for me to crawl back into my cave.

see ... if you come out of it once in a while you learn something! 😛

Once you get the door panels off, it should be pretty obvious how to remove the handles.

Actually there are electronics & screws & I am uncertain how to best remove the door handles as I have not done this before. To my credit, I did tear out my dash & replace the instrument cluster and the Multifunction display (LCD screen) and the car works fine now and I did a great job (didnt break a single clip!) so I think I can do this, but I need more information so I dont botch my car. Its fully loaded; electronic windows present extra difficulty because its not just a matter of removing the panel as there are wires that need to be unplugged and an electronic motor I have to work around. Its a 2006 and everything still works. I want to keep it that way.

Mittegag -- I love the idea of vinyl! I can change my car color every year if I want! The colors you can achieve with vinyl are much better than a regular paint job so you should look into it. Its a thing here in the USA & not just used for advertising.  Check out "Paradox Wrap" on You Tube.

What the heck is "Vinyl Wrap"?

You will have to take the interior door panel off to access the handle mounts.
