Is a 2002 BMW m3 with 130k miles a good car to buy? How reliable are those models?

An old BMW M3 is going to be extremely expensive to keep on the road. Due to the age, mileage, and general unreliability of BMW, I would not recommend purchasing one of those. They are not known for reliability and repairs are extremely costly on any of the "M" series cars.

There be reason other than just "BMW M car rare" and price is low (assumption)/are you sure it's an M car? Lotta people like to fake it nowadays.. just saying. Instead of the M why not the 325i? If speed and tunability is more your thing, the 325i has more range for that type of stuff. Anything not OE will destroy the value of a M series car must of the time.

True. Very true. People love to slap an M badge on anything BMW. VIN checking is essential.

Are you looking to buy as a daily driver?  I would pass on those to avoid an endless money pit.
