I have a 2005 Hyundai Elantra with 34,200 miles. (It's a little old lady's car which I inherited.) I was checking the fluid levels today and noticed the power steering reservoir looked really low. I went to Autozone and asked if someone could check to make sure. The guy said it was low and he picked out some fluid for me. After paying, I went out to the car and poured about 1/2 bottle in. When I got home I noticed the bottle said it was for Hondas! The car drove home okay- about one mile. I called the store and they said I should be okay if the car did not have problems driving home. Should I have the power steering fluid flushed?
No that's fine the Honda style fluid is only because hondas have a power steering pumps that are a little finicky. You should be absolutely fine with that fluid it's basically all the same.
