Today is July 3 2024. Two weeks ago I heard a big snaky hiss one day and then my car started running warm and the check engine light came on. Worried it's the head gasket. The shop looking at it isn't sure . But my question is has anyone heard this sound ? And if a reasonable price can be found is it worth it to get head gasket replaced? It's a 2014 Ford focus, approx 138,000 miles . Sedan . Prev owner and myself only. Hot climate in summer. Thanks!! Happy 4th!

If the shop isn't sure, take it to a real mechanic. You could easily diagnose it yourself, if you want to. Rent a head gasket tester at AutoZone and buy the special fluid. Take a few inches out of the radiator, leave the cap off, and follow the directions on the tool. If the special fluid turns from blue to yellow, the head gasket is blown.
