Random Crank-no-start

Hello all. I have a 1995 Toyota Camry LE (2.2) with 143,000 miles. Up until yesterday the car ran perfect whatsoever. I went to leave the store and the car would crank like normal but wouldn't start. Had it towed home and then this afternoon it started right up. Took it for a test drive and drove perfect. Went to the store and it started up both leaving the house and the store with no issues. Then about an hour later, I went to start the car again and it had the same normal crank but no start. Any idea what this could be? Car has ran/started/drove perfect up until this point. No check engine light.

Any codes?

If you haven't run a battery check or code scan I'd start there.

Beyond that it could be a fuel pump starting to fail or a clogged filter with a chunk large enough to stop fuel flow.

I second the fuel being an issue if the battery system checks out. Especially if the fuel filter or fuel pump had never been changed before.

Sounds like a fuel issue, any idea when the filter was last changed? If you change that & no luck next would be the pump.

Prior to going through the headache of dropping the tank, I'd test the quality of your spark on each cylinder. The tool for that is about $5 at harbor freight.

I haven't changed it despite owning the car since 138,000 miles. The car was owned by an elderly woman so I am unsure if it was ever changed. The pump seemed to be okay when we checked it and was working fine but it could still be an issue.

That would be my first step then, pop in a new filter & go from there.

Hello all.

I have a 1995 Camry (2.2) automatic with 143,000 miles. A couple of days ago the car for some reason out of nowhere didn't want to start. Cranked like normal, but wouldn't fire even after giving it gas. The next day it started right up as if nothing happened. Within the past 2 days, on two separate occasions, I was idling the car (once at a store and another at a stop light) and suddenly my rpms would fluctuate between 200-1000 rpm for about 2 seconds before the car finally died, almost like it was stalling. Car would fire right back up and then drive as if nothing happened. The AC was on during both times this happened. Checked the relays and cleaned the battery terminals but still no changes. No check engine light or any codes present. Any idea what this could be a sign of?
