Hello Scotty! I drive a ML500 from 2005 (W163) the car has 106,600 miles on it everything drives phenomenal to this day we have had it since 2004, this past year or so ive noticed that if the roads has potholes or bumps/dips and my car hits them at the wrong angle or lets say at certain speed but car just dies. Its got an aftermarket head unit if it helps, and after market speakers/sub as the sunroof drains leaked in some time ago. (3 years ago) . Typically the front headlights go out, the cars interior lights turn off but the aftermarket unit stays on, as im rolling slowly things start to shut off further, power steering locks up, brake pedal gets hard. I usually hit my hazards move the car into park quickly before brakes completely go, or use a screwdriver to put it back in park and it starts right back up, though it may not seem like a really bad issue recently it happened on the highway. I live in New York City and the roads are trash to say the least. No check engine lights though mechanic believes its the crankshaft position sensor, and even that is seized in there when the mechanic attempted to pull it he refused as it would potentially snap. (WD40 and all didn’t help). Im starting to believe its not that sensor but something else, any insights are appreciated. Thanks so much!
