Hey Scotty, on my 97 Pathfinder with 180k miles, I notice on cool or cold mornings that are especially damp, I get a rattling noise coming from the pulley and belt area and by the fan.
I know it’s not from the engine, because when I spray the pulley area when it’s making the noise it immediately stops. Belts are all new.
Any ideas? How do I isolate the exact pulley? I believe it’s the pulley at the top only because when I spray water directly there it’s stops. But when I use screwdriver to my ear I don’t hear anything.
Well get a stethoscope and you can generally hear the noise rattle but usually if you remove the fan belts and then grab the pulleys with your hands the offending one will have some play or make clunking as you pull on it back and forth
