Hi, i have a 2004 Toyota 4runner v6 with 236,000. This morning after letting it sit for 2 days it started rattling real bad for less than a minute and then it stared running smooth again. After a couple of hours i checked the oil and make sure it was a the correct level and wasn't dirty and then i started it up with no abnormal sounds at all. This is my daily driver and i was wondering, since i let it sit for a couple of days, all of the oil was at the bottom of the pan and it needed time to reach the top. Should i start preparing to do a major repair or am i good?

Thanks

With that milage this is normal usually the hydrolic lifter on the cams squeeze the oil out when there under load if you leave it a couple of days this happens unless you want to replace lifter i would leave it as its normall wear and tear

@ivanhoo
Thank you

No probs my old c class merc had 250000 miles and did it most cold mornings or after an oil change

You might want to investigate further at:  https://www.toyotanation.com/forums/4runner-4th-generation-2003-2009.270/

There, you can connect with lots of 4Runner owners

"No you dont it will cost a fortune" ? What are you talking about?
Toyotanation.com is a FORUM for OWNERS (like this, web site but only for Toyotas). There is no cost associated with looking at or using it. It is not a dealership/Toyota parts store. It is a FORUM, much like this one.
