Hey Scotty,
I've got a 2007 Corolla CE automatic, 200,000 miles still runs great but during the winter months (I live in Toronto) I can hear a loud rattling noise that seems to be coming from under the car close to the center console. The noise is only apparent when I push down on the gas pedal. It usually stops after a few minutes (probably because the car has warmed up), I checked to see if I had any trouble codes and nothing has come up. Any idea what could be causing this?
Thanks!
Mat
Check the heat shield. It might be rusting out.
Heat shield, or rubber exhaust hanger might be breaking down letting the exhaust pipe or muffler hitting, or worse case is your catalytic converter could be breaking up. I had one fully breakup on my 2002 Trans-Am, when I stepped on the gas it sounded like someone was shaking a tin can with marbles in it.
