Hello hope all is well! I have got a strange problem, I have a 2014 Toyota RAV4 Limited with smart key and push button start, and if I am wearing khaki pants and try and start my car with the key in my pocket sometimes it won’t detect the key fob and sometimes it does, also if I open and close the door with the car running it won’t detect the key until I pull it out of my pocket and hold the key next to my dash when then it finally detects it. I replaced the batteries on both fobs and doesn’t fix it. Also I can’t lock the car from the outside unless I am stand literally right next to the drivers door. I am pretty sure the sensor that detects the key is going bad, I just wonder if anyone knows how much this would cost to fic it because it is very annoying. Thank you!!
Have you thought of changing the battery on the fob itself? Maybe that's the problem.
@weallbroke
Yea I have 2 key fobs for the car, I replaced the battery on both of them once, didn't work so I tried again with new batteries and still did not fix it. It's not like it is anything major since I have been living with this problem for almost 2 years now and still able to start and drive the car, it is just something that is really annoying.
