What's the best vehicle fresh off the lot for offroad?
I'm looking at maybe a ford f150 regular cab xlt or maybe a Tacoma/Tundra offroad. Maybe a 4runner tdr offroad.
What's the best deal for the money, reliability and offroad experience? (No mods)
brand new? used? What's your budget?
Brand new.
Obviously one is a SUV and one is a pickup so it depends entirely what you intend to do with it.
If you're going to be overnighting or you want comfort and dry roomy interior, then the 4Runner
If you need to tow or haul toys, then the pickup.
The 4Runner will have better traction. The rear end on pickups is too light.
Will this be a daily driver or weekend toy? What kind of off-roading do you plan on doing and what percentage of the time? In my neck of the woods, the vast majority of the trials are narrow so a full-size truck or SUV would not cut it. Even a midsize truck would be pushing it. The 4runner would be as big as I would go in my situation. Not sure in your case what the dirt roads are like - but just something to consider. Also, if you do serious off-roading you will want the best approach, departure, break over angles and the truck’s generally fall shy of the SUVs (Wrangler, 4runner). Also, do you plan on towing much (if at all) and how much?
But given all that I would say a reliable off-roader fresh from the factory (all stock) would be a Toyota 4Runner with the TRD Offroad package.

Looking at 2021 4runner trd offroad and Tacoma trd offroad. Which is the better vehicle for offroading?
I would go for the 4Runner TRD-Off Road. It has a great 4WD system and crawl control, which is the off-road cruise control system.
