I've started pulling apart the headliner and such in my '79 Catalina V8, 3-speed auto and I've hit a bit of a snag. I can't seem to figure out how to disconnect the dome light from the posts that mount it to the roof.
The service manual says these should be three screws, not studs with some kind of cap on them. How should I go about taking these things off? I thought about using side cutters on the discs, as they're pretty thin, but I'm not sure if I can even find another set, I've never seen retainer "caps" on rivets like this before.
Great demo video! I have a small pair of needlenose pliers that should work well. I'm pulling the headliner board out to redo it, and the dome light is one of two things keeping me from doing it. The other is working with sunbaked vinyl trim that could easily break, and I have no clue if I can find replacements if I break one, haha.
