Does Scotty have a list of reputable mechanics in the greater Louisville, KY area?

Check the FAQ anyway for tips about finding good mechanics.

Personally , I would talk to as many people as possible.

Ask all your friends , family and coworkers. Go to auto part dealers, and ask them what they know.

I think eventually certain names will start to come up more often and you will start to build a mental picture.

Also, you can just drive or walk past shops in your area. A bustling place that has every bay full, and high throughput all the time is likely a good bet. Look at the tools they are using. Are they getting by with a sad looking lift, and 100 year old tire machines? Does the shop look like a disaster area? Or is it tidy and organised? Are the tools in good condition and they're using high tech modern equipment.

You could even schedule a consultation with them. Talk to the head guy and explain any concerns with your car you have, and see what they say about it and what they can do for you. That there will tell you a great deal about a shop and how they operate. Did they take the time to talk to you and take you seriously? In my experience, good owners are proud of their business, even offering to show you around the shop, and talking about how they got started.  I find instinct is a very useful for judging this kind of thing. Does the experience give you the "warm & fuzzies".

We have a short list of recommended mechanics in the FAQ but I don't see any listed for that area.

Thanks. 😥

Will Scotty answer if he knows anyone in my area?

I'm looking for someone to check out used Lexus' and Toyota's in my area who I can trust to give me the straight skinny on one.  I'm also looking for someone who can do the frequent maintenance work on my 2015 Lexus RX350 without having to get ripped off at the dealership.

That's entirely up to him. He does check in most days here but obviously cannot answer everyone's questions himself.

Cool. Thank you!
