Hi scotty, I have a Subaru Impreza gx 2ltr 2003. It has a misfire where oil is leaking onto spark plugs. Is it worth trying sealant like blue devil first to try and repair the rocker cover gasket instead of replacing it. Thanks!
Usually sealants won't work on valve cover gaskets in my experience. The gasket material is usually too thick and the hole too big for it to seal. I have seen them work on oil pan gaskets and some seals. Blue devil is probably the best one to try but I would just save your money and get it fixed.
It can work if you fill it in properly. Not sure if those are thin gaskets (easier to seal) or the thick rubber ones.
Get everything clean, and be sure to let it cure before starting the engine.
Myself, I would buy new gaskets. If only not have to keep looking for leaks.
