Toyota Yaris 1.3l Petrol, 2006 manual, 307,000 kms
Hey Scotty
Ran a diagnostic using 'Bluedriver' cause the vehicle has rough idle and difficult to pull away. The mass air flow rate at idle fluctuates between 1.28 and 2.37. Timing advance between -2 to +2
Cleaned the MAF several times with the correct spray including the throttle body and works ok for a while but the rough idle returns. Think the exhaust manifold is leaking a little not sure if this would make a difference.
Scan tool not indicating any fault codes
Scan tool great for identifying the information but what does it all mean. Do you recommend a good diagnostic book to interpret all the readings
Appreciate any advice. I can send you the report data if possible
Thanks from down under
I had similar issue on 200k corolla manual 2005 , i changed the MAF idle got less rough as compare to befor, then i got the intake manifold gasket change improved a little bit on that too. But it is not that smooth
now this is how my car was behaving it idles fine when at stop but only rough when came to a stop after 5 gear it fluctuate for a while then settles down , hotter the car is better the idle is.
I didn’t investigate too much consider it is old car i learned living with it
question does your car looses power if you accelerate too long , like bogs down? , mine use to do that looks like cat not performing well. But then i sold my car never really found what else was wrong. once a mechanic told me to retune the car(which i never did) he said since its old all the parts are worn so computers are trying to compensate but overshoots or misses , that made sense to me.
