Got a 97' subaru outback wagon, auto trans, 210k miles. Believe it was code P0401, egr poor air flow. Took out valve, cleaned everything inc. any lines/pipes that went to it. Checked diaphram , didnt find any rips. Put it back together and started it, wholly molly......tach shot to 3,500rpm, then settled at 3,000. Turned car off, waited 5 minutes, started it, same thing happened. My guess is a vacume leak? Help in the direction I should proccede in will be much appreciated . Thanks
Double check the connections and hoses. Make sure you did not leave something unplugged.
Thanks Carlos.. I was ready to take it apart again. I did miss something on the reinstall. I knocked out the clip from the front of the ATC cruise assembly on the fire wall and the line from that goes to the throttle body, hence the screaming engine. Actually, Scotty says subarus sound like Evinrude motors. To all you Subaru owners out there, Motor On !
