Should I mix coolant types

My 2014 corvette was low on coolent and running hot, so I stoped at a car parts store and bought a gallon of Prestone (green) coolent and put it into the cooling system.  My Chevrolet dealer (very soon after that), as I was in for service told me that because I used the Green Coolant rather than a Red color coolant I needed to drain and flush the system.  Wasn't cheap!  The Prestone container said that it is "good for all car models" Thoughts!

Thanks

GM vehicles use the orange Dexcool antifreeze.

Just stick to that. It doesn't cost very much.

Not sure about your specific car.  But in most of the cars I have owned, the owners manual says something like: Use recommended coolant. If you use just water or any other coolant in a pinch, drain and flush the system ASAP, and use the proper recommended coolant.

The mechanic isn’t lying to you.
