Same Transmission???

Hello, I have a 2013 Ford Escape 2.0l 4x4 turbo. The transmission went bad!!! Apparently thousands of people have experienced the problem of premature transmission failure of the 2013/2014 model year which means Ford Knowingly

put bad transmissions in these vehicles. I an looking to buy a used trans and found out that the 2013 to 2019 models all have the same engine!!! So, if thats the case they should take the same transmission, right!!!! But, for some reason the 2013 and 2014 transmissions cost around $2000 and up, while 2015 to 2019 transmission cost between $800 and $1200. Is this a case of resellers just ttying to ripoff owners of 2013,2014 ford escapes or are the transmissions on the 2015 to 2019s really different from the transmission on the 2013 and 2014? I wanted to put a tranmission from a 2016 on my 2013! Can i????

Unfortunately, you are at the mercy of the supply and demand situation.  These Ford transmissions are terrible.  If you buy a used one, you'll probably have the same problems you're having now, knowing the transmissions were poorly designed and manufactured.

Ford botched the design and implementation of those dual-clutch transmissions, and yes, the company knew they were bad when the cars were sold. A used one (even a new or rebuilt one) will still develop the same problems. As far as I know there is no real fix for them.  You'd have to check with someone really familiar with those cars to find out if it's possible to install the later transmission. It really depends on the nature of the changes that Ford made in the newer models.
